Manchester United are reportedly working on signing the teenage midfield duo of Seth Ridgeon and Tyrese Noubissie from Fulham and Manchester City respectively.

United’s new transfer approach

Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe completed his partial investment into United last year and assumed operational control at Old Trafford, the club’s transfer policy has radically shifted from primarily signing already-established superstars to recruiting young players who can be nurtured to potentially become world-class.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, poor recruitment has plagued United, with the club splashing out on big-money signings who have consistently failed to live up to their hefty price tags.

Over the past few months, United have signed the likes of Chido Obi, Sekou Kone, Patrick Dorgu, Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven.

More recently, the Red Devils have announced the arrivals of Diego Leon and Enzo Kana-Biyik. Fabrizio Romano also confirmed that United have finalised a swoop for Harley Emsden-James, who has completed a switch from Southampton.

United eyeing Ridgeon and Noubissie

Now, according to Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic, United have trained their sights on talented duo Seth Ridgeon and Tyrese Noubissie.

Whitwell reveals, “Manchester United are in talks to sign two 16-year-old midfielders regarded as among the finest in the country.”

“Seth Ridgeon, England under-17s captain, and Tyrese Noubissie, who is set to depart Manchester City, are considering offers from United.”

“The approaches, spearheaded by United’s head of academy recruitment Luke Fedorenko and director of academy Nick Cox, are part of the renewed drive to bring in what the club sees as some of the best skilled teenagers at British academies.”

Whitwell notes that Ridgeon is also on the radar of the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City. However, United are seen as being frontrunners to secure his services.

Fulham are “fighting hard” to keep him but they’re facing a losing battle, as United have presented him with a top-notch proposal for his development.

Meanwhile, Noubissie’s departure from the Etihad is imminent because of limited opportunities at the club.

Whitwell reports that both Ridgeon and Noubissie have been taken on tours of Old Trafford and United’s Carrington training complex.

Cox and Fedorenko are spearheading the moves for the two players, but Wilcox and even Ruben Amorim have also been involved, likely to add extra appeal and sway the youngsters’ choices.
