- Head coach Ruben Amorim revealed he did not watch the penalty shootout, stating it was "not important" compared to the team's performance during the game.
- Amorim accepted the fairness of the result, congratulated Grimsby, and apologised to the fans for his team's display.
- He indicated a need for time to "think and decide things" about the team's future, suggesting the upcoming international break is timely.
- Amorim defended goalkeeper Andre Onana, who was at fault for Grimsby's goals, by attributing the poor performance to the team's overall approach rather than individual errors.
