Manchester City are looking to continue their ongoing rebuild by sourcing a replacement for Kyle Walker, who is likely to have played his last game for the club.
Walker joined AC Milan on loan in January, fulfilling his personal dream of playing abroad, having suffered an alarming drop in form in the first half of the season. The veteran right-back still has another year left on his City contract but is expected to move on permanently in summer.
Home-grown youngster Rico Lewis has largely been starting in Walker's place in recent weeks, but the 20-year-old's versatility has also often seen him utilised on the left and in midfield.
There is no other right-back in the first-team squad, with Matheus Nunes repurposed at times in 2025. City's recruitment drive in January focused on the centre of defence, as well as up front and in midfield, but there is an expectation that a right-back will be on the summer wishlist.

The Daily Telegraph writes that Newcastle United talent Tino Livramento is being "monitored". The former Chelsea academy graduate, who previously played for Southampton in the Premier League, has kicked on since joining Newcastle and even made his senior England debut in 2024.
The 22-year-old is under contract at St James' Park until 2028, while his 2023 switch to Newcastle was valued at £40m – including add-ons. It means he is unlikely to come cheap.
Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso, who can play on either side, is also heavily linked with City. There were rumours of a potential £54.7m offer for the Italian during the January transfer window, although Juve coach Thiago Motta later suggested it wasn’t the player's intention to leave.
