Manchester City have confirmed that youngster Claudio Echeverri has joined Bayer Leverkusen on loan for the season.
The 19-year-old linked up with the City squad in January of this year, having returned to River Plate on loan after City had completed the signing of the midfielder in 2024.
He has played three times for Pep Guardiola’s side since joining, making his debut in the FA Cup final defeat to Crystal Palace.
“Claudio Echeverri is a technically gifted, energetic player who is very dynamic between the lines from where he poses a threat,” said Leverkusen managing director Simon Rolfes.
“A classy footballer – very good at dribbling, direct going forwards and always able to bring his teammates into play positively. Football fans come to games to watch players like Claudio. His creativity will bring new and attractive elements to our game.”
Meanwhile, Galatasaray are keen on signing Swiss defender Akanji from Manchester City.
Goalkeeper Ederson’s future also remains unclear, with City weighing up a move for PSG shot-stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma. Fellow goalkeeper Stefan Ortega is another who could depart before the window shuts.
Kalvin Phillips will be allowed to leave City should a deal materialise having fallen out of favour under Guardiola.
And Tottenham continue to maintain interest in winger Savinho, despite Guardiola being keen to keep the Brazilian at the club.
