RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko has taken a similar stance to Manchester United new boys Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

Despite failing to secure their spot in Europe next season, the Red Devils’ aura hasn’t faded, as the club remains capable of luring some of the biggest names on the market, as evidenced by their first two summer acquisitions.

Man Utd have already bought Cunha and Mbeumo who reportedly had other top suitors in the Premier League, with some of the clubs offering them the opportunity to play in the Champions League.

According to German journalist Guido Schäfer, Sesko has also given his preference to the Old Trafford outfit.

Benjamin Sesko prefers Man United over Newcastle

The source confirms that Man United and Newcastle have both registered their interest in the 22-year-old, albeit neither side has opened negotiations with the player’s entourage or with Leipzig.

The Red Devils are keen to complete their new-look attack by adding a striker to their ranks, while the Magpies could soon require a new centre-forward, given that Alexander Isak has asked to leave the club.

Nevertheless, the Slovenian star would be more enticed to join Man Utd rather than Newcastle, even though the Magpies will play in the Champions League this term.

Will Sesko join Mbeumo & Cunha at Old Trafford?

While the player’s desire isn’t sufficient on its own, it could surely play a fundamental role, as evidenced by the transfers of Cunha and Mbeumo.

Therefore, many at Carrington might be optimistic about landing Sesko this summer, even though it won’t be easy given that Leipzig are gunning for €80 million at the very least.

Man United have already missed out on several transfer targets in attack, especially Liam Delap, Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres, so they’ll be hoping that the young Bundesliga bomber won’t slip through their fingers.

However, it should be noted that Sesko isn’t the only striker on Man Utd’s shortlist, as INEOS are tracking at least another three.
