The striker has been on loan at Stoke City from Leicester City this season, but could be move away from the Potters.
Luton Town and Sheffield Wednesday are showing an interest in Leicester City's Tom Cannon, but he would have to be persuaded to leave Stoke City, where he is currently on loan.
The 22-year-old is set to see out the season with the Potters, having joined the club on deadline day in the summer transfer window. However, according to Alan Nixon via Patreon, two of their Championship rivals will push to swap the deal this month.
He has scored nine goals in 22 appearances in the league so far in 2024/25, including four in one game against Portsmouth at the start of October in a 6-1 win.
He most recently found the back of the net against promotion chasing Sunderland, and Stoke will be extremely aggrieved to lose their star striker midway through his agreement.
There has been plenty of talk surrounding Cannon's short-term future, and a fresh update from Nixon will only make the Potters' situation more difficult.
There is a break period in the forward's contract where he can be recalled by Leicester, and sent on loan to another club. A huge temporary bid would have to be tabled from either Luton or Sheffield Wednesday to bring the young star in, but Stoke's current league position could see him move on.
However, it is not only the Foxes that would have to be won over to secure the services of Cannon. Both the Hatters and the Owls would have to persuade the striker to move away from Staffordshire, and from a club where he seems comfortable and happy.
Nevertheless, after Stoke's struggles at the start of the season, the Premier League side may want to see him moved to a club pushing further up the table, such as Sheffield Wednesday.
The 22-year-old is the Potters' top scorer, and with Mark Robins now at the helm, there is a renewed positivity surrounding the bet365 Stadium.
His goals have been crucial to ensuring that Stoke have built a gap to those in the relegation zone, although it is a relatively small one. They are currently just four points above the bottom three, and there will be a fear that this could close if Cannon moves on in the transfer window.
Robins will have to identify and bring in a new striker immediately if his star striker is moved to a rival, and joining Luton will have a direct impact on his team's chances of survival, with the Hatters one position and two points behind the Potters.
Stoke are having a difficult season, but there is hope that with a new manager and new belief they can turn it around and push towards mid-table. However, losing Cannon will only make things more difficult, and it will boost those in the relegation zone.
