Louis Saha has reference Cristiano Ronaldo’s comments about Manchester United in need of a full rebuild.

The Reds haven’t won the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson retired at the end of the 2012/13 season.

English football has been dominated by Man City since then, despite fears of financial corruption being the reason for their success.

Ronaldo’s second spell at Old Trafford ended under a grey cloud and he was unable to recreate the form that saw him become a club legend first time around.

There were tensions between Ronaldo and Erik ten Hag, with the pair falling out before it was mutually agreed that he would depart the club prior to the end of his contract.

Saha agrees with Ronaldo that the club needed a complete makeover, but warned it won’t happen overnight.

Speaking to Casino Hawks, as quoted by the Irish Mirror, Saha said: “Cristiano Ronaldo was right when he said that Manchester United needed to rebuild everything, he was right when he said it two years ago. I think part of the reason they have rebuilt everything is because of what he said in that interview, look at the training ground and talk of a new stadium, things have changed.

“This club used to scare the opposition in the way they played, the first step in getting back to that will be the infrastructure and looking and feeling like the club they are.”

United hired Ruud van Nistelrooy as assistant manager during the summer. This is a decision backed by Saha, who added: “You can even look at Ruud van Nistelrooy coming in. These things do take time but it seemed that people at the club started to listen, they started to understand how fans were feeling. It’s only right that the club listened to people who were there in Sir Alex Ferguson’s era, that’s what fans want to get back, that feeling.

“The club should be listening to people like Ronaldo, Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Ruud van Nistelrooy, this club needs to again understand how to win things. What Cristiano and Rio mentioned is the way the club used to be and how the players need to get that confidence that we had, rebuilding the club around them will help.”
