Real Madrid, Barcelona, Athletic Club and Mallorca are all currently getting ready to head to Saudi Arabia for the latest edition of the Spanish Super Cup.
Reigning champions Real Madrid published their squad this morning to head out to the middle-east, with one long-term absentee included amongst the 24-man list.
Austrian defender David Alaba has been included in the squad, having not played any football since December 2023, when he played 35 minutes against Villarreal.
Whilst it remains to be seen whether Alaba will be set to get any minutes on the pitch in Saudi Arabia, it is certainly a good sign that the 32-year-old has been included.
Other notable call-ups are Lorenzo Aguado, Diego Aguado and Daniel Yáñez, members of the club’s reserve and youth systems.
Lorenzo and Diego, unrelated, made appearances in the first team’s clash against Deportiva Minera in the Copa del Rey, while Daniel Yáñez made a brief cameo in the dying moments of the club’s match against Girona.
Real Madrid are set to get underway against Mallorca on Thursday evening, with kick-off at 7pm UK time.
