Two of Liverpool’s biggest stars, Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai, were involved in a distressing situation when their two national teams met on Saturday night.
The Netherlands emerged as 4-0 victors when they faced Hungary in the UEFA Nations League, but the game was stopped in the seventh minute following a medical emergency on the sideline.
One of the Hungary coaches, former international striker Adam Szalai, fell ill shortly after the match kicked off and play was stopped immediately.
Szalai was taken to hospital, leaving the ground on a stretcher, and the Hungarian team made the decision to carry on the match, with their coach in a reportedly stable condition.
Speaking to the media following his side’s dominating victory, Van Dijk had his say on the situation.
