We often talk about how players gel with each other on the pitch. However, rarely is it mentioned how they might settle away from the pitch.
In this instance, Hughes has once again pulled off a brilliant masterstroke, bringing in two close friends in Frimpong and Wirtz. Meanwhile, Kerkez also has a close relationship with Dominik Szoboszlai, who will help Pecsi settle in as well considering they are both Hungarian and are from the same agency.
But with Kerkez, Szoboszlai, Wirtz and even Frimpong, there is a different common language that might make communication even easier in the dressing room.
No one is talking about the fact that, despite being Hungarian, Kerkez and Szoboszlai speak to each other in German. That's because Kerkez's mother tongue is Serbian, and he is a more comfortable German speaker having spent a lot of his formative years in Austria.
This also applies to Szoboszlai, who spent a lot of his years in Red Bull Salzburg and then also playing in Germany as well.
As a result, it's the duo who might be able to help Wirtz settle in even more comfortably by speaking his native language.
Something Frimpong may also be able to chime in on, considering he spent several years in Germany, too, and therefore must speak at least a little bit of German.
It's always important to have players helping you out when you join a new club, and for Wirtz, Szoboszlai and Kerkez could be the duo who may help him settle in the most considering their ability to converse in German.
