Who is Liverpool target Gareth Taylor?

Liverpool Women target Gareth Taylor is a former men’s footballer who played for the likes of Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United and Manchester City.

After working as a youth coach on the men’s side at Man City, he was appointed as head coach of the club’s women’s side in 2020.

During his time as Manchester City’s women’s manager, he won the Women’s Super League title in 2022, as well as the FA Cup in 2020.

He narrowly missed out on the WSL title again in the 2023-24 season. City were overtaken on goal difference by Chelsea on the final day of the season.

After a tough 2024-25 campaign, Taylor was sacked on March 10th, with the club fourth in the standings – where they would finish the season and miss out on Champions League football.
