Liverpool Women have announced that Japanese midfielder Fuka Nagano has signed a contract extension with the Women’s Super League side.
Since joining the club from North Carolina Courage in January 2023, she has made 64 appearances for the Reds.
However, there had been concerns over her future due to an expiring contract.
Liverpool had already lost Taylor Hinds on a free transfer to Arsenal this summer, while Olivia Smith also made a world record £1m move to the Gunners.
Nagano has silenced talks over her future by putting pen to paper on a new Liverpool deal.
The announcement of Fuka Nagano signing a new contract came in the middle of a kit launch for Liverpool on Friday morning.
Liverpool revealed their new adidas kits for the men’s and women’s side in the 2025-26 season.
It is the beginning of a 10-year deal with the sports brand, after previously working with Nike over recent years.
Liverpool Echo report that the adidas deal is worth ‘way over’ £600 million to the Merseyside club.
One player who was pictured promoting the kits was Nagano – effectively confirming that she had signed a new deal.
The Reds then followed off by stating that Nagano would again wear the No.8 shirt next season, before posting an announcement of hew contract on their official website.
Also seen promoting the new Liverpool Women kit was Sofie Lundgaard, who joined the club in 2022.
Nagano could next be in action when Liverpool Women play Aston Villa in a pre-season friendly on August 9th.
The next friendly involving a WSL side is on Friday, with London City Lionesses playing FC Twente. UK betting sites have the Lionesses at 11/10 odds to beat the Dutch side in the 6pm fixture.
Since joining the club in 2023, Fuka Nagano has made 64 appearances – 26 of which came last season.
Nagano provided four assists during the 2024-25 season and netted her first goal for the Reds in a 3-1 victory over Manchester United.
The 26-year-old is the latest to sign a new contract following Ceri Holland, Rachael Laws, Faye Kirby, and Mia Enderby – who it was announced had signed a new deal on Thursday.
Liverpool have also signed Kirsty Maclean, Rafaela Borggrafe, Sam Kerr and Lily Woodham.
The Reds are still without a permanent manager, despite reports last month that they were in talks with ex-Man City boss Gareth Taylor.
Liverpool Women begin their 2025-26 season with a Merseyside Derby against Everton on Sunday, September 7th.
The Reds also face Leicester City, Aston Villa and Manchester United in their first month of the new Women’s Super League campaign.
