The board at Premier League champions Liverpool are keen to exact ‘revenge’ on their counterparts at Real Madrid this summer.
This comes owing to a whole host of recent transfer triumphs for Los Blancos over the Merseysiders.
Just this summer, Real Madrid of course landed one of the star members of Arne Slot’s Liverpool squad on a free transfer, in Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Not only that, but fellow Reds defender Ibrahima Konaté has been hotly tipped to follow a similar path to Alexander-Arnold in 12 months’ time.
Add to this the recent decisions of the likes of Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham to head to Spain’s capital rather than Anfield, and Liverpool have been left understandably disenchanted with their Real Madrid counterparts.
For this reason, according to Diario AS, the English champions have ‘revenge’ in mind this summer.
Specifically, Liverpool have set their sights on the signing of Blancos star Rodrygo, considered the ideal replacement for the transfer-linked Luis Díaz.
As per AS’ report:
‘Real Madrid and Liverpool are engaged in a personal battle in the transfer market, with the English club seeking revenge after losing every duel with Real Madrid in recent years. Now they’re trying to sign Rodrygo to become their star forward.’
