Next season, there could be a significant shake-up in the midfield of Paris Saint-Germain as the club aim to revamp that position. In recent months, various players have been linked to the team, including FC Porto‘s standout, Alan Varela.

With Luis Campos as their sporting advisor, PSG has been consistently scouting for talent in Portugal. Gonçalo RamosVitinha, and Manuel Ugarte have all made the move from the Portuguese league, so it’s only natural that Campos is eyeing another player.

However, PSG encounters a hurdle in their pursuit of the 22-year-old Argentine, namely Liverpool. The Reds are embarking on a new chapter without manager Jürgen Klopp, and they’ll need to assemble a squad that aligns with whoever succeeds the German.

But there’s a new development in this file that might see Liverpool head in a different direction. Neil Jones wrote in his column for CaughtOffside that he hasn’t received any solid updates regarding a potential transfer for Varela.

Instead, Jones talked about the other skilled players the club has in that same position. Liverpool made signings last summer, including Alexis Mac AllisterWataru EndoRyan Gravenberch, and Dominik Szoboszlai, so they have plenty of options in that part of their squad.
