Here’s our roundup of all the latest Liverpool transfer news. The Reds are yet to complete a transfer - but things are happening.

Alisson could have left

Liverpool risked losing Alisson Becker this summer amid a massive shakeup in the goalkeeping department.

That’s according to the recently departed goalkeeping coach John Achterberg, who suggests that the Brazilian No.1 would have left the club if Taffarel was also forced into an exit.

Achterberg left Liverpool at the end of the season upon completion of a contract which was renewed back in 2021 - not long after Taffarel was recruited to the goalkeeping staff at the club.

Van den Berg must wait

Sepp van den Berg left no doubt of his desire to leave the club and reportedly, PSV Eindhoven would like to sign him. The Dutch champions are keen, though there are more doubts over paying Liveprool's £16m asking price.

Whatever is going to happen, everyone must now wait. Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink made that clear this week as he said that Van den Berg going on Liverpool's preseason tour rules out any imminent transfer to PSV.

"PSV target Sepp van den Berg is on a training camp in the United States with Liverpool," he wrote on X/Twitter. "A transfer to PSV in the very short term is therefore not possible yet.

"The Eindhoven team would love to sign him later in this transfer period."

Arne Slot's commitment

This summer hasn't been easy when it comes to signing new players.

Liverpool hired a new sporting director in Richard Hughes, a new head coach in Arne Slot, and saw two international tournaments disrupt things. On top of that, three key players are out of contract in one year's time - and two of them were at the tournaments.

But there's another reason things are delayed and it comes down to a commitment from Slot. The Athletic points out that the Dutchman is "committed to developing an exciting crop of academy youngsters and ensuring a pathway exists from the club’s youth setup to the first team".

In other words, he wants to make sure Liverpool give their talented group of youngsters every chance possible to make it with the Reds. Is that a risk, though?

Liverpool still want Huijsen

Liverpool remain eager to sign one of the brightest centre-back prospects around, according to reports. But they're hardly alone in wanting Dean Huijsen.

Football Insider claims Liverpool are still in the running for Dean Huijsen. They're joined by Aston Villa in that, with both clubs seeing him as 'one for the future'.

Though, at 19, you'd be surprised if they didn't.

This is far from the first time Liverpool have been linked with Huijsen. The centre-back has had an interesting season, joining AS Roma on loan from Juventus in January and playing regularly over the second half of the season.

Woodburn joins Salford

Ben Woodburn

Ben Woodburn has signed for Salford City in League Two just two years after leaving Liverpool permanently.

Woodburn joins the Manchester side after his contract at Championship side Preston North End was not renewed at the end of last season.

He joins the club who are famously owned by several players from Manchester United’s history known as the Class of 92 and they have been attempting to get Salford City into League One for many years now.

The hope is that Woodburn, once viewed as a star in the making, can light that spark for them in this upcoming campaign after they finished in a miserable 20th place last season just nine points above the drop zone.
