Liverpool are reportedly set to make a move for Manchester United target Marc Guehi.

The Red Devils have so far prioritised their attack with the signing of Matheus Cunha and are currently involved in advanced negotiations over Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.

Nonetheless, the centre of defence is somewhere the club is always looking to strengthen, especially after switching to a back three under Ruben Amorim’s leadership.

United were heavily linked to Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi last summer but he ended up staying at Selhurst Park.

The England international enjoyed a fantastic season last year, capped off by captaining his side in the FA Cup final win over Manchester City.

The Telegraph now report that Liverpool are set to steal a march and make a bid for Guehi in the near future.

The article states that, “Liverpool are expected to make a significant offer for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guéhi, having moved swiftly to raise funds with the sale of Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen.”

The money the club will receive from the Quansah sale has now put Arne Slot’s side in the “best position to do a deal” for the centre back.

Guehi will almost certainly depart this summer with only one year left on his current deal and seemingly no prospects of a renewal in sight.

The defender is regarded as a “rare breed: a very aggressive defender who senses danger and is also comfortable in possession.”

Crystal Palace have already turned down big money offers from Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United in recent months.

The 24 year old played in 44 matches in all competitions last year, scoring three goals from the back.

It seems that if United want to get involved in the battle for the defender, they must act fast.
