Liverpool are closing in on a major deal with a Premier League club. A Fabrizio Romano update confirms it's on the way.

Liverpool are pushing for a lot of deals in 2025. It's a stark contrast to their fairly flat 2024, with Richard Hughes not really tasked with much.

There was some sales, of course, but only for reserve players who had been out on loan. Then Federico Chiesa was the only arrival for the first team - Giorgi Mamardashvili did technically sign, though he only arrives this summer.

And that was it. 2025 is very, very different and Liverpool will see some massive deals both in and out.

Florian Wirtz will hopefully be the biggest of those but he's far from the only one being worked on right now. Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez are both expected to join fairly soon, with the former thought to be wrapped up.

That's not all, however. Liverpool are on the brink of securing one major sale - and it sounds like it could happen shortly.

Liverpool to proceed with Caoimhin Kelleher sale

It was a surprise that Caoimhin Kelleher stayed last summer. He's been vocal about wanting regular first-team football and was never going to get that with Alisson Becker in the squad.

There was certainly interest in him but nothing that moved forward. Kelleher remained as no one met the asking price and did, to be fair, get a good number of games thanks to Alisson's injury.

But this was almost certainly his final season with the Reds. Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg is among those pushing the line that Brentford want Kelleher and are prepared to meet the asking price.

All that really stands in the way is Mark Flekken. Brentford will only move for the Liverpool star if Flekken leaves for Bayer Leverkusen.

Fabrizio Romano, though, reports that the move is now in the final stages. Flekken is expected to be Leverkusen's new goalkeeper and personal terms aren't an issue.

The moment that goes through, Brentford will turn to Kelleher as their new goalkeeper. Liverpool are chasing £30m in order to sell the homegrown talent - but it's a figure the Bees are supposedly happy with.
