Liverpool have reportedly resolved to part ways with Italian winger Federico Chiesa during the upcoming summer transfer window, following a season that has fallen short of expectations.

Since his €15 million transfer from Juventus, the Italy international has struggled to secure a regular spot under manager Arne Slot, amassing a mere 387 minutes across 11 appearances in all competitions.

His contributions include two goals—one in the FA Cup and a recent strike during his side’s Carabao Cup final loss at the hands of Newcastle.

The recent Champions League Round of 16 second-leg match against Paris Saint-Germain highlighted Chiesa’s marginal role, as he remained an unused substitute even when Slot opted to bring on a partially fit Cody Gakpo, further confirming that he’s not part of his manager’s plans.

According to Calciomercato.com, the 27-year-old is set to leave Anfield next summer, with a return to Serie A a strong possibility—provided he agrees to a salary reduction.

Napoli have emerged as a leading contender for Chiesa’s signature, with manager Antonio Conte reportedly keen on the winger. Conte sees him as a valuable addition to the squad, though any potential move may hinge on the coach’s own future at the club.

Liverpool are also said to be open to a loan arrangement to facilitate Chiesa’s departure, allowing greater flexibility in negotiations.

Meanwhile, Italy head coach Luciano Spalletti would welcome Chiesa’s return to Serie A, believing that consistent playing time could be crucial in preparing him for the 2026 World Cup.
