Liverpool are looking for a new left-back as a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson and have identified Lewis Hall of Newcastle United as a potential target, according to a report.
Anfield Watch has reported that Newcastle left-back Hall is among the players Liverpool are considering signing in the summer transfer window.
The report has stated that Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez is also on Liverpool’s radar.
Hall is one of the best young players in the Premier League and has done superbly for Newcastle.
The 20-year-old joined Newcastle from Chelsea in the summer of 2023 on a season-long loan deal.
The youngster scored two goals in 22 appearances for the Magpies last season and played mainly as a left-back.
Newcastle make Hall’s loan deal from Chelsea permanent in the summer of 2024.
According to BBC Sport, the Magpies paid the Blues an initial transfer fee of £28 million, plus £7 million in possible add-ons.
Hall has starred for Newcastle this season, making five assists in 34 competitive matches.
Why would Newcastle sell Hall to Liverpool this summer?
The Magpies are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
If Eddie Howe’s side, who have just won the Carabao Cup after beating Liverpool in the final, clinch a UEFA Champions League place next season, then there is no way that they will even entertain selling any of their best players.
Even if Newcastle miss out on the Champions League, their Saudi Arabian owners, PIF, will surely not want to weaken their squad by selling a player like Hall, who has shown at the age of 20 that he can become a superstar in the future.
Liverpool need to forget about signing Hall and should focus on another left-back if they want to replace Robertson.
