As the summer transfer window nears, Hugo Ekitike has become a name to watch. The Eintracht Frankfurt striker is drawing serious interest from Premier League heavyweights, with Liverpool and Chelsea both actively monitoring his situation. However, signs suggest that Stamford Bridge may be his preferred destination.
Ekitike is fresh off a breakout campaign, delivering 22 goals and 12 assists across 48 matches for Frankfurt. His form has placed him firmly on the radar of Europe’s elite, and with Chelsea and Liverpool both eyeing attacking reinforcements, it’s no surprise the 22-year-old Frenchman has become a key talking point.
Reports indicate that Chelsea are now leading the race, with Adler News, a Frankfurt-based outlet, claiming that Ekitike has made his preference clear.
“Chelsea FC is putting pressure on the transfer of Ekitike, who now wants to move to Chelsea.”
With Enzo Maresca newly appointed at Stamford Bridge and Champions League football secured for next season, the Blues are wasting no time strengthening their forward line. Talks are already at an advanced stage with Ipswich’s Liam Delap, but Ekitike is viewed as a marquee option for their evolving project.

Liverpool, under Arne Slot, are also believed to have made contact with Ekitike’s camp. The club, fresh off a remarkable Premier League title under their new manager, are assessing options to bolster their attack and maintain momentum.
According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, the Reds have held “preliminary talks” with the player’s representatives. However, it appears they are yet to fully convince the striker, with Chelsea reportedly offering a more compelling proposition at this stage.
This development may frustrate some at Anfield, particularly given the potential long-term value Ekitike could bring. Yet, in the world of elite football, player preference often proves decisive.
Eintracht Frankfurt are not in a rush to part ways with their star forward. Having secured Champions League football for next season, they hold a strong negotiating position and are demanding a premium fee.
Sporting director Markus Krosche has already opened the door for a potential sale, though he emphasised the need for the right price to be met.
“He’s one of the most interesting strikers on the European market. Hugo has to decide that, I’m glad we have him. If he decides otherwise, it’s our belief that if a player develops faster than us, we let him go.”

Frankfurt are understood to be demanding €100 million (£85.7 million) for Ekitike, a figure that reflects both his current output and future potential. Acquired from PSG for €20 million, the Bundesliga outfit stand to earn a substantial profit.
As interest intensifies, Hugo Ekitike faces a crucial career decision. Chelsea’s offer may appeal with the promise of regular minutes, a clear vision under a new manager and Champions League involvement. Liverpool, despite their domestic dominance, may struggle to offer the same level of clarity around his role, especially given their existing forward options.
For now, Chelsea appear to be in the driving seat. But in football, nothing is final until the paperwork is signed. Liverpool will remain hopeful that they can turn the tide, though Ekitike’s preference may soon force their attention elsewhere.
