Liverpool have got plans to add a new centre-forward later in the transfer window. The problem right now is exits will be required before any more incomings happen.
We’ve seen Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Giorgi Mamardashvili arrive for a total outlay of around £200m. And a new striker coming into Anfield will be contingent on raising money through sales.
One of the current Liverpool stars most at risk is Harvey Elliott. The England under-21 international only started TWO Premier League games last season and has been suggested as a potential departure this summer.
With Liverpool hoping for a transfer fee of between £40m and £50m, they could significantly boost the funds available for a striker later in the summer.
The Reds like Alexander Isak. The Newcastle frontman is under contract at St. James’ Park until 2028 but there have been reports that a deal might be possible.
The Sweden international scored 23 Premier League goals last season - establishing himself as one of the finest marksmen in the world. And he would be the dream signing for Arne Slot if Liverpool could get it over the line.
Newcastle are currently reported to be willing to accept a deal of £120m for their prized asset.
But Liverpool could use the Geordies’ reported interest in Elliott to significantly reduced the outlay.
According to TBR Football, Newcastle have got Elliott very high up on their transfer wishlist - and did so even before he starred for England at the UEFA Euro under-21 Championship.
With Liverpool also in the hunt for Isak, it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that adding Elliott to the mix could bring the asking price down to £70m or thereabouts.

Factor in an exit for Darwin Nunez and Liverpool could sign Isak for the value of the Uruguayan and Elliott - two marginal figures in the Premier League title-winning season.
Sporting director Richard Hughes and head coach Arne Slot may have to get creative to complete their summer business after making such a significant outlay to this point.
