Ibrahima Konaté (25) is currently more likely to join Paris Saint-Germain this summer than sign a contract extension at Liverpool, Sports Zone understands.
Liverpool, who were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by PSG on Tuesday, face losing both central defenders at the end of the season. Virgil Van Dijk’s (33) deal with the Merseyside club expires at the end of the season. As per L’Équipe, Al-Hilal have made an offer worth over €20m to the Dutchman, who has not yet responded and is mulling over his future. Seen speaking with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and sporting director Luís Campos at Anfield yesterday, rumours have emerged linking Van Dijk with a move to the Parc des Princes. PSG will potentially be in the market for a defender this summer and Van Dijk could be a target considered.
Konaté could yet leave too. The Frenchman, whose current contract expires in 2026, has a renewal offer at his disposal. No response has yet been given. As per Sports Zone, currently, Konaté prefers to join Les Parisiens rather than extend with Liverpool. The Merseyside club are aware of this and are going to submit a new contract renewal offer to the France international.
