Liverpool have officially confirmed the signing of left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

The 21-year-old arrives at Anfield for £40 million after two impressive seasons with the Cherries, making him Liverpool’s most expensive full-back signing to date.

Liverpool wanted a long-term successor to Andy Robertson, whose output has declined in recent seasons. He could be on his way out of Merseyside this summer.

Kerkez’s attacking prowess and defensive reliability have drawn comparisons to Robertson at his peak.

“It’s a real honour for me, a privilege to come to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, [the] biggest club in England,” he said via Liverpool’s official website.

“I’m just really, really happy and excited.

“After this, I’ll go home and in my hometown enjoy a few days, and then I can’t really wait to come back and put the training kit on and start to train and prepare for the season.”

Kerkez began his career with Gyor in Hungary before moving to AC Milan’s youth set-up.

After failing to break into the senior side in Italy, Kerkez joined AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands, where his breakthrough campaign in 2022/23 caught Bournemouth’s attention.

The Hungary international immediately established himself as a first-team regular, starting every Premier League match in the 2024/25 season, scoring two goals and providing five assists.

Kerkez is Liverpool’s third summer signing, joining Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz as the club continues to invest heavily ahead of next season’s title defence.
