Liverpool are preparing for next season and the club is already lining up replacements for Virgil van Dijk amid a possible departure.

This summer has been a frustrating one for Liverpool with the club so far failing to sign a single player. The Reds could be about to change that as they close in on a deal for Giorgi Mamardashvili.

However, the Georgian is not really a transfer for the present moment either - he will only join the club next summer - a summer that could see a mass exodus at Anfield.

Currently, there is a shadow looming over the Liverpool squad with the club's three talismans, Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk having all entered the final 12 months of their contracts.

And it seems Liverpool are already lining up replacements for one of them.

Liverpool will want to avoid a scenario in which they could possibly lose their club captain next summer. However, with Van Dijk not getting any younger - it would not be a surprise if the Reds failed to come to a contract extension agreement.

Next summer, Van Dijk will be turning 34 years old and he will be entering the twilight years of his career. It's clear Liverpool need to find a long-term replacement for his services.

And according to Caught Offside the club have already lined-up potential replacements with a view for a transfer next summer. The site reports both Antonio Silva from Benfica and Gleison Bremer from Juventus are on Liverpool's radar.

Neither will be a cheap solution for Liverpool with the duo highly rated by their respective clubs and it will take a big chunk of money for the Reds to bring them to Anfield.
