Liverpool will look to maintain their impressive form when they face Southampton at St Mary’s in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Reds have won 15 out of 17 games they have played in all competitions. They have lost only once in the league and are top of the table, five points above Manchester City.
Liverpool are about to face some tough opponents that will test their title credentials, but manager Arne Slot is taking one game at a time.
Slot has confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold hasn’t trained with the squad this week, but he should be able to return shortly.
Alexander-Arnold picked up a hamstring injury in the first half of Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa before the international break, but the injury is not as serious as it was initially feared.
Luckily for Liverpool, they have Conor Bradley, who is a more than reliable deputy for Alexander-Arnold.
The 21-year-old right-back impressed heavily for Northern Ireland during the recent international break, and his performance against Luxembourg was hailed as ‘terrific’ by the Irish press.
Bradley has made six appearances in the Premier League, but he has yet to start a game. This is a big opportunity for him to start for the first time under Slot in the Premier League and make a big impact.
The Dutch boss is apparently impressed by Bradley, and he can completely rely on him.
Slot has also confirmed that Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson has returned to full training, but he won’t be risked against the Saints.
Harvey Elliott is back in training, while Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa are not far away from returning to the squad after long injury lay-offs.
