Paris Saint-Germain have focused on signing young, promising talent in recent transfer windows, but both Luis Enrique and Luis Campos understand the importance of adding experienced players—provided they fit the club’s culture and system.
One area where PSG may look to strengthen is defense, especially with Milan Skriniar expected to leave permanently this summer following his winter move to Fenerbahçe.
Instead of splurging on a high-priced player, PSG could consider a short-term deal with a familiar opponent. Virgil van Dijk is set to be out of contract at the end of the season, and reports indicate he’s on PSG’s radar.
Anfield Watch reports that PSG is targeting Liverpool’s captain with an offer of €80 million over two years, with the possibility of a third season. A substantial signing bonus could bring the total value to €100 million.

With Van Dijk yet to extend his contract, there might be uncertainty about whether the veteran defender will stay. Nonetheless, talkSPORT’s Jermaine Pennant isn’t worried about the Dutchman’s Liverpool future.
“I see probably out of them all, Trent [Alexander-Arnold], the most likely to go,” Pennant said. “Virgil, [Mohamed] Salah, I reckon they will sign. The club are probably, I’ve heard that they’re discussing the age and the wage ratio.
“I understand why teams, usually as you get older, you don’t stay the same, and your new contract will be a little bit less. But that has to go out of the window with the caliber of players we’re talking about, Virgil and Salah.
“You have to give them the same contract that they run for another year or two years because they’re that good. So they’re probably pondering on the numbers for transfers for next year. So there’s probably a lot going on that we’re not aware of behind closed doors.”
David Ornstein of The Athletic previously reported that everyone involved is downplaying a move for Van Dijk to PSG. The report also indicates that Liverpool are confident he will sign an extension.
Recently, ESPN’s Julien Laurens reported that a deal isn’t close, even though a video surfaced last week showing the Liverpool captain with PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos.
