The two-time European champions were honoured this afternoon with a parade along The Mall before enjoying further celebrations on the Queen Victoria Monument in-front of thousands of fans.
An estimated 65,000 fans packed Central London to celebrate the back-to-back European champions as they paraded through The Mall in open-top buses, marking their historic UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 victory. The Lionesses, who won their first major tournament in 2022, made history once again on Sunday as they became the first senior England team to lift a trophy on foreign soil following their 3-1 penalty shootout win against world champions Spain. The two sides had battled out a 1-1 draw after normal and extra-time.
Led by captain and defender Leah Williamson, the squad greeted the crowd with heartfelt speeches on stage alongside former Lionesses Alex Scott. Several players delivered emotional messages to the crowd who watched on and absorbed every word.
Despite her defensive impacts throughout the tournament, Jess Carter was notably absent from the celebrations as she returned to her club Gotham FC ahead of their National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) fixture on Saturday against Chicago Stars.
Today’s homecoming parade proved a fitting way to celebrate the historic achievements of the Lionesses.
