Lille target AZ Alkmaar’s David Möller Wolfe to fill left-back void

With all three of last season’s left-backs departing, Lille have identified Norwegian international David Möller Wolfe (23) as a potential recruit – but negotiations are proving complex.

Having been spoiled for choice at left-back last season with Ismaily, Mitchel Bakker, and Gabriel Gudmundsson, LOSC Lille now find themselves starting from scratch. Ismaily, 35, has not been retained, Bakker has returned to parent club Atalanta, and Gudmundsson has joined Leeds United in a €12m deal.

As things stand, the only natural left-back in the squad is 19-year-old Belgian U21 international Vincent Burlet, who impressed during a loan at Le Mans (National) last season. Reinforcements are thus a priority.

According to a report from L’Équipe, Lille’s recruitment team have set their sights on AZ Alkmaar’s David Möller Wolfe (23). The Norwegian international, under contract until 2028, joined AZ from Brann in 2023 for €2.5m and has steadily grown in stature.

Early discussions have taken place, and the player is reportedly keen on a move to Ligue 1. However, Alkmaar have set a high asking price of €9m which has put the brakes on negotiations for now.GFFN | George Boxall
