Lia Wälti, captain of the Swiss national team and Arsenal midfielder, has returned to training after taking a ten-day break to focus on her well-being.
In an Instagram post, Wälti announced her decision to step away from football for a short period due to mental challenges and personal issues.
Now recharged and relaxed, according to Swiss publication, Blick, she is ready to join her teammates on the pitch once again.
The Arsenal star left the Swiss national team camp early and missed their match against Iceland.
In her Instagram post, she explained that the last few weeks and months had been mentally challenging and psychologically exhausting, leading her to request a break from both her club and the national team.
With her break now over, Wälti is back in Arsenal training and preparing for some crucial upcoming matches.
She is expected to return to the pitch against Manchester United on Wednesday, her 30th birthday.
Following this game, she will be fighting for a spot in the Champions League starting lineup, with the first leg against Wolfsburg coming up on Sunday.
As the Swiss captain, Wälti also has an important role to play in her team’s World Cup campaign in Australia and New Zealand, which begins in three months.
Switzerland are in the same group as New Zealand, Norway, and the Philippines.
