Rico Lewis has praised City's faith, confidence and belief in each other after fighting from a goal down to advance into the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 win over Leyton Orient.
Jamie Donley's 40 yard strike cannoned off the crossbar and then off Stefan Ortega Moreno to hand the League One hosts a dream start after 16 minutes at the Gaughan Group Stadium.
However, shortly after the interval, Lewis' powerful drive from 25 yards deflected off substitute Abdukodir Khusanov to draw us level.
Kevin De Bruyne was introduced from the bench with just under 20 minutes left to play and after just seven minutes on the pitch, the Belgian completed the comeback with a clever flicked finish.
Academy graduate Lewis was impressed with the team's approach to the game despite falling behind.
"At the end of the day it’s City and the standard is so high and we demand so much from each other," he said in an interview after the game. "No matter who is playing and on the pitch, it's the highest quality. Personally, me and the team have enough leadership there to push us through to the end.
"Going from attack to defence is very difficult because it’s a lot of ground to cover. The way we play, the right sided centre back is there to help with that. It’s more about trust in each other. There’s so much trust to keep the ball and that’s why we can play such attacking football.
"That gives me the privilege to go forward more. Like I said it’s all about trust. It’s the highest standards and we trust each other. I think everyone does want us to get beat, apart from City fans. There’s pressure on our shoulders every game.
KING KEV: Celebrates after completing the comeback.
"So the lads in the dressing room are used to it. Everyone just settled their heads at half time and got on the ball and we know how much quality we have on the ball. He [Pep] wasn’t going mad or anything like that [at half-time].
"It was more of just that we’re going to get more chances, we’ve already created loads and we need to keep going. In this kind of environment it’s so easy to let the pressure get to you, and a few more mistakes come. We just said keep our heads and the chances will come and we’ll put them away.
"In my head, personally, I was like of course, a shot from the halfway line goes in after our chances. That’s football sometimes. Credit to Leyton Orient. They made it so difficult for us to play. Sometimes they went with six at the back so it’s so hard to break down, but in the end we got the result that we needed."
City have now won our last 18 matches in the FA Cup against lower league opposition, which is the longest ever winning run by a top-flight team against sides from lower divisions.
Lewis believes the team is ready to fight for more glory in this historic competition after making it into the fifth round, and is also looking ahead to a huge Champions League play-off clash with Real Madrid on Tuesday.
"It’s massive [the FA Cup]," said Lewis. "The season hasn’t panned out how we wanted to. We’ve kind of said that the transfer window is closed now so it’s a new start to the season. Every game now, as long as we win it, it could be a great season for us even though the first half didn’t go to plan.
"We have the FA Cup and Champions League and so many games to play to enjoy and also to become more of a team. It’s a massive game [against Real Madrid]. It’s a huge game. The name itself tells you the story.
"The lads in the dressing room have played them so many times, it’s become like a game you will see every year at the moment.
"It's a big game, it’s a fresh start for us, we want to keep going. Today’s win will help us with that."
