The 2024/25 Premier League season now over five months old.

Newcastle United fans with the latest collection of opinions below.

Contributions are sometimes too brief to make up into a full article and so we have gathered up a number of recent comments sent in, relating to issues at Newcastle United (if you would like to send anything in, long or short, then contribute@themag.co.uk is the place):

Dear Mag,

Sandro Tonali is the perfect example of when a club and fanbase rally behind a player during a very difficult moment in time for them, then you can get so much more back in return.

He was a young man who made mistakes and found himself in a very difficult position.

Sandro Tonali is clearly in a much better place now, both as a person and as a footballer.

It is absolutely transparent that Tonali is grateful for all the support he has had from the fans, from Eddie Howe, from his fellow players, from the club as a whole.

Now we are all reaping the benefits of that understanding  and support he was given.

What a player!

Mike Taylor

Dear Mag,

I’m sorry but I don’t subscribe to the fantastic farewell Miggy.

Miguel Almiron has been mediocre at best in the last few years.

No room for sentiment when progress is on the horizon.

Dear Mag,

Brilliant figures (NUFC headline accounts revenues for 2023/24 released as part of 2025 Deloitte football rich list report) and from all I am hearing our management team are making it work to increase the revenue even further.

This is a big step to our being able to compete on a level playing field with the “big” 6 cartel that the Premier league has worked hard to protect.

Newcastle United has been hindered and competition held back by PSR and the derisory £105m 3 season loss figure that has never kept up with current times finance levels.

Well done our owners and management.

Thank you for all you are doing and you have me and I know the Toon Army fully 1000% behind you.

Howay the Lads.

Dear Mag,

I have a dream.

Newcastle win on Saturday against Fulham and (hopefully) move into top four, maybe even top three if Forest lose again!

Then United win (well, I would take a one goal defeat BUT my nerves might not survive it!) again against Arsenal and book our return to Wembley.

Then on that Wednesday night after the final whistle, NUFC CEO Darren Eales strides out onto the centre circle, then announces that a brand new state of the art 80,000+ stadium is to be built on Leazes Park/Castle Leazes and is due to be completed and ready for the start of the 2027/28 season. With secret talks having taken place with all the relevant authorities, who have given their backing to get it through the planning process etc and to become reality.

Meaning we can all enjoy these final couple of years at St James’ Park, no temporary disruption and/or drop in capacity, before then smoothly moving to that brand new 80k+ stadium a couple of hundred yards away.

With then us all celebrating in Trafalgar Square in March after hammering Liverpool/Spurs 5-0 at Wembley to break the trophy hoodoo, on the way to a Champions League return and watching then before out eyes the brand new massive stadium taking shape…

Dear Mag,

Newcastle United and most other teams if three goals (or more) up with 15-20 minutes to go. Most Managers will put on substitute defenders, midfielders or attacking players. Such as players who have experienced very little or no participation the first team.

QUESTION.

Why not put on a substitute Goalkeeper?

Surely this would enable Eddie, Jason and their management team to ascertain the potential of the player concerned in a first team match situation. As well as giving them much needed first team experience.

I believe that this has particular relevance to our beloved club, as when Nick Pope is fit to play, we hopefully could have five fit players challenging for that position. Decisions will have to be made on who stays or departs.

The reason for 99.99999999% of you is probably very obvious. Am I missing something?

My question may well sound ultra pathetic to many of you but I would welcome fellow Mags comments to my question.

Andrew

Dear Mag,

Day after day we get the same old churn of transfer stories.

One day it’s Isak off to Arsenal, the next it’s Guimaraes to Man City, the next Gordon to Liverpool, then Tonali back to AC Milan.

All Toon fans will be sick and tired of this social media media merry go round that is largely driven by the London and North West media forums and ex pros who simply cannot accept that Newcastle have some pretty good players. PSR is meant to put us in our place.

My wishes for 2025 are not only that we win a trophy but that we qualify for the Champions League again, add to our squad in the Summer and announce big Stadium plans so we can increase our revenues.

Have a great new year everyone..

David Hart

Dear Mag,

Just seen your twitter feed regarding the problems this morning / afternoon (of Monday 13 January 2025) in getting access to the site to buy a ticket for the Arsenal game.

I had a similar experience and feel totally dejected with the membership ticketing process.

I have had a great deal of success this season, i suspect by only looking for 1 ticket per match, and i feel that i know the process now.

Today seemed totally different and alarm bells should have started when i logged back in(after successfully getting a Fulham ticket) with the screen showing me a very large queue number but only 1,592 people in front of me – at 1145. I thought that this would change at 12 noon but it didn’t and seemed to hang there.

I opened up a new log in on my works computer at 1215 and was given a queue number of over 30k but less than 1k people in front of me. This did tick down, and when presented with the ticket front page, i clicked on home tickets, only for it to kick me out and put me back into the queue with over 50k queue number. At around 1245, my original login started to tick down from 1592, but once i got onto the site, there were the tickets available then not available.

After a while of refreshing, I gave up. I contacted the ticket office and the lady i spoke to said that she was not aware of any issues, and that people had been able to buy. I then pointed to a large number of twitter traffic on this subject at which she was quite dismissive.

There has obviously been a significant issue with the process today, probably as a result of trying 2 general resales in 2 hours. This has impacted on a number of people who are generally regular match goers, and this is a very stinging one to take given the importance of the match.
