The Motherwell midfielder’s prospects have been the subject of much debate since last year with him being linked to nearly every club in Europe. Miller featured in 39 matches for the Fir Park side last season and capped off the campaign with a standout display on his full-Scotland debut against Liechtenstein.
The central midfielder has been linked with a potential transfer to Celtic in the past, including in January, but his Dad, Lee, has recently disclosed Lennon’s ideal destination once he moves on from the Steelmen: “His preferred choice would be abroad,” he said, speaking to Scottish Sun.

“He’s not just going to go to a club for the sake of it. It needs to have the right environment and the right manager at the right club.
“Lennon’s not bothered with the money side of things – he wants to go and progress his career and then kick on again. I don’t know what that’ll be. But it needs to be a place where he can then grow again. The next move for Lennon is so important for his development.”
Fair play to the lad and to his dad for giving everyone interested in the best young Scottish players a heads up.
With several midfield options to choose from, Brendan Rodgers’ plans for the new signing Benjamin Nygren’s position are yet to be revealed. However, given the homegrown quota regulations for Europe, securing Scottish talent should always be a priority for Celtic.

Although Miller is expected to leave North Lanarkshire this summer, no concrete developments have been reported so far. “In terms of bids going in for him, there’s nothing this summer,” said his Dad.
“There were a few bids in January and the valuation wasn’t met, so we just had to wait. It needs to be the right club. For example, it’s all right saying Napoli’s an incredible club and they’ve got amazing players. But that’s when you need to look at where he fits into that club. There needs to be a space that he fits in and is able to flourish and progress.

“Ultimately he needs to play football. He needs to keep developing because everything has gone to plan so far. He’s played a number of first-team games and is a recognised first-team player now, although still only 18. He’s done really well at Motherwell, but it’s time for him to move on.”
Motherwell have only one more year remaining on their deal with the 18 year-old star and know that the optimum time is this summer to sell. The bids in January that were rejected may well have included one from Celtic, that hasn’t been clarified. However if the boy is going to pick and choose that could put Motherwell in a difficult position the longer the summer window is open with no deal in place.

Would Lennon Miller walk into the Celtic team? It’s possible but more likely he’d be coming off the bench to earn starts. We would probably get a start across the city, but meeting Motherwell’s asking price could be an issue there. More like he’ll head over to join the growing Scottish colony in Italian football.
But while Celtic might continue to watch developments, this one almost certainly will slip down the list of possible signings and the club’s transfer business priorities.
Best of luck to the boy, regardless, he looks like a great prospect and player good enough to back himself to play for Celtic.
