Fabio Capello is hoping that Inter Milan can win the European Treble this season “for the sake of Italian football.”
The legendary former AC Milan, Real Madrid, and Juventus coach gave his thoughts at the Il Foglio a San Siro event, as reported by FCInterNews.
Inter Milan got a huge result in the Champions League this week.
The Nerazzurri beat Bayern Munich 2-1 in the first leg of a quarterfinal tie.
There is still a long way to go in that tie, where Inter have another ninety minutes to go. And likely semifinal opponents Barcelona would prove if anything even more formidable.
But Inter will believe in themselves. Particularly after having reached the final of the competition two years ago.
Meanwhile, in Serie A Inter are top of the table. They sit three points ahead of Napoli at the summit.
And then, in the Coppa Italia, Inter have the second leg of a semifinal tie against city rivals AC Milan to come later this month.

Legendary former coach Fabio Capello said that “The Nerazzurri’s win made me very happy.”
“Because I support Italian teams in Europe. Including the ones from Milan.”
Capello declared that Inter “played a perfect game, and deservedly won.”
“In my opinion, Inter can go all the way,” Capello added. “Because they have a great midfield.”
“The German team blocked off Calhanoglu, but Barella and Mkhitaryan did their jobs.”
The former Milan coach continued that Inter look like “a team that are confident in their style of play, who have no problems when they’re pressed.”
“Then, on the counterattack, they’re absolutely the most dangerous team. Along with Real Madrid and Barcelona.”
Meanwhile, Capello gave his thoughts on a potential Treble for Inter. “I hope so,” he said. “For Italian football.”
“But it’s hard to win everything,” the former coach added.
“Four trophies, including the Club World Cup, would be a lot.”
“But this team know where it wants to go,” Capello praised Inter. “It has the mentality.”
“Inzaghi is managing this team very well.”
