Leeds United are set to sign goalkeeper Lucas Perri from Olympique Lyon, according to journalist Fabrice Hawkins.
The Whites have reached ‘total agreement’ with the French giants and are confident that the Brazilian will sign for them this summer.
Talks with Lyon are moving quickly, and the 27-year-old is expected to join up with the squad soon.
A private flight has been arranged to bring him to the team’s training base in Germany on Tuesday evening.
Perri is expected to complete his move to Elland Road once he undergoes a medical.
The Brazilian keeper has only spent one season with Lyon, but Leeds manager Daniel Farke has already seen enough to push for the deal.
If everything goes to plan, Perri will become the club’s seventh signing of the summer and the second in quick succession following German midfielder Anton Stach, who arrived earlier this week.
The move comes after a tough year for Illan Meslier, who lost his place to Karl Darlow for the final seven matches of last season. It was clear that a new goalkeeper was high on the club’s summer checklist.
Leeds were linked with a move for Robin Zentner, but ultimately decided to move for Perri.
Perri featured in 33 league games for Lyon last term. Data shows that he was expected to concede 47.8 goals but let in only 44. That wasn’t a one-off either.
While playing for Botafogo in Brazil’s Serie A in 2023, Perri outperformed his expected goals again, conceding just 36 from a predicted 48.1.
It’s this consistency that has convinced Leeds he’s ready for the Premier League. Perri could get his first run-out in Leeds colours during their second friendly in Germany this week.
If that goes well, he’ll be in line to feature against Villarreal at Elland Road this weekend ahead of an even bigger challenge in the English top flight.
