League Two’s promotion race goes down to the wire

The fight for promotion in League Two is absolutely bonkers right now, and Easter Monday could be a huge day in sorting things out.

Only seven points separate leaders Port Vale and Notts County in sixth, so there’s still a real chance for any of the teams in between to sneak into the automatic spots.

With three promotion places up for grabs and just three points between the top four, it’s seriously tight at the summit.

Port Vale could actually confirm promotion on Monday, but it’s a bit of a long shot – they’d need both Doncaster (2nd) and Bradford (3rd) to lose, plus AFC Wimbledon (5th) to slip up. It all hinges on Doncaster and Bradford playing each other next week, so both can’t win that one.

Darren Moore's side have at least got their play-off spot in the bag already, and there’s still hope for clubs as low as 13th to break into the top seven – so there’s loads still to be decided.

Down at the bottom, it could be the end of the road for Morecambe. They’re eight points from safety, and if they don’t beat Salford City, that’s them gone. Even if they do win, they’ll still go down if Tranmere manage to beat Barrow.

Carlisle, meanwhile, pulled off a big win against Port Vale on Good Friday to keep their survival hopes just about alive – but they’ll be relegated if they lose to Accrington and Tranmere get the three points at Barrow.
