Marc Casado became the latest Barcelona player to make his debut for the Spanish national team, featuring in their UEFA Nations League match against Denmark in Copenhagen last night.

Casado played the final 20 minutes, helping Spain hold on to their narrow lead to secure a 2-1 victory.

The midfielder’s debut marks a significant milestone for Barcelona, as he becomes the tenth player from the club to earn a first cap for Spain in the past decade.

Barcelona: Most productive team for Spain

Indeed, since 2013, Barcelona have solidified their reputation as a major training ground for Spain’s national side, giving more players to La Roja than any other team, reports Mundo Deportivo.

The club’s famed La Masia has produced a steady pipeline of players who have gone on to represent La Roja at the highest level.

In addition to Casado, this list includes Sergi Roberto, Marc Bartra, Munir El Haddadi, and Cristian Tello, all of whom debuted for Spain between 2013 and 2016.

In recent years, the emergence of young stars has further cemented Barcelona’s influence on the national team.

Players like Pedri and Gavi have quickly become key figures for Spain, while Ansu Fati, Alejandro Balde, and Lamine Yamal, too, have made their debuts.

Yamal, who recently made headlines for becoming Spain’s youngest-ever debutant, might even become the face of the Spanish national team in the years to come.

Barcelona’s tally of ten debutants since 2013 surpasses all other clubs. Athletic Club follows in second place, having contributed eight players, while Real Sociedad and Villarreal have each provided seven.
