Sunderland AFC loanee Enzo Le Fee is expected to be sidelined for at least six weeks with a hamstring injury, which could cause an issue for his parent club, Roma, later down the line according to reports in Italy.
Le Fee, who joined Roma for a fee of around €23m in the summer, is currently on loan in the Championship with Sunderland, who have an obligation to buy the Frenchman permanently should they gain promotion to the Premier League by the end of the 2024-25 season.
Though he had fallen out of the first team picture after Claudio Ranieri’s return to the Stadio Olimpico midway through the season, Le Fee has impressed with his initial performances at the Stadium of Light.
However, the 25-year-old is now expected to be ruled out for around six weeks after coming off with a hamstring injury at half-time of Sunderland’s 1-0 loss to Hull City on Saturday.
Sunderland will also be without starting centre-back Dom Ballard for around two months, as he also picked up an injury in the same game.

Both injuries, particularly the one to Le Fee, are a cause for concern for Roma, who hope to earn €23m from his sale in the summer, which will likely be reinvested in other new recruits during the next transfer window.
As things stand, Sunderland are currently fourth in the Championship, eight points off the automatic promotion positions with 12 league matches of the 2024-25 season remaining.
Roma will hope that Le Fee is back as quickly as possible to help Sunderland with their promotion charge.
