Lazio are reportedly eyeing a move for Anderlecht defender Jan-Carlo Simic once they can sign new players.

Simic Emerged Through the Ranks at Milan

The 20-year-old is a Serbian international who was born in Germany and started his playing career in the youth ranks of Stuttgart. In 2022, he was poached by AC Milan where he managed to cement himself as one of the most exciting young players in their Primavera ranks.

The centre-back even made his senior debut at the tender age of 18 under Stefano Pioli. He went on to make four Serie A appearances and scored a goal in the process, before being sold to Anderlecht in the summer of 2024. Simic has now established himself as a regular starter for the Belgian giants.

Lazio Keen to Sign Jan-Carlo Simic

The Serbian’s exploits in the Jupiler Pro League caught the attention of Lazio who are determined to bring him back to Italy. As reported by La Repubblica (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Maurizio Sarri rates the youngster who combines impressive physical attributes with noticeable technical skills.

Can Simic Become a Protagonist for Lazio?

Therefore, Simic could be the long-term replacement of Alessio Romagnoli, or perhaps he’d fill in for Mario Gila, who has a host of suitors around Europe. Nevertheless, Lazio cannot sign any players in the summer due to a transfer ban imposed by COVISOC.

However, the management is hoping to resolve this unpleasant situation so they would be able to operate as normal in the January transfer session.
