As reported earlier in the week, both Joshua Zirkzee and Andre Onana are both in contention to face Arsenal this weekend after recovering from their respective injury issues.

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim confirmed as much in his press conference on Friday, but he also ruled out Lisandro Martinez and Noussair Mazraoui from facing the Gunners.

One other uncertainty was around summer signing Benjamin Sesko, who joined United last week, too late to feature in pre-season for the team. Amorim has confirmed that the striker is ready to play against Arsenal.

“We didn’t have a lot of time, but he is ready,” Amorim said. “Physically, he is ready – that is a big component in our league – then he is really smart, he is ready to play, we will see if he is going to start.”

Despite the uncertainty around Rasmus Hojlund’s future in Manchester, Amorim confirmed that the striker is “one more option” for Sunday’s game.

Zirkzee and Onana both missed United’s pre-season tour of the U.S., with Zirkzee suffering with an unspecified injury complaint whilst Onana had a hamstring injury.

Mazraoui has been absent from training for a couple of weeks now, whilst Martinez has been out since February with an ACL injury.
