Some Premier League action was scheduled amongst the Champions League drama, with Burnley coming out on top on Tuesday.
Scorer: Adebayo 84′; Foster 45+2′, Bruun Larsen 85′
Given there were only a total of seven shots on target combined, the match was a low-scoring contest. But both sides took their best opportunities when they arrived, ending with some late drama.
Lyle Foster opened the scoring with his third league goal after being slotted through by Sander Berge. The 23-year-old remained composed despite slightly kicking the ball out of reach and slotted home for 1-0.
The hosts demonstrated, however, that they were not down and out. Elijah Adebayo came off the bench and turned things 1-1 from inside the box with only six minutes to go.
But the visitors went on to break Luton Town’s hearts when, a mere seconds later, Jacob Bruun Larsen turned things back in favour of Vincent Kompany’s men with a thumping left-footed strike.
The result means Burnley picked up their first win of the season and sit 18th, level on points with Luton Town and Everton two spots above them.
