As stated by Lucas Vazquez after Real Madrid’s win in the Copa del Rey last night, Real Madrid simply have no room for rest in the hectic schedule.
They were forced to take to the field just days after their 5-2 hammering to Barcelona and must now again step on the grasses this weekend to take on Las Palmas, less than 72 hours after the Celta Vigo clash.
Speaking to the media ahead of his team’s clash against Real Madrid, Las Palmas manager Diego Martinez expressed optimism over his team’s chances and insisted they would leave no stone unturned to beat Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
“We have very clear ideas about the challenge and what we are. We have the illusion and conviction of being a competitive team,” he said.
“We’re going to try to knock out Mike Tyson,” he added, referring to the task his team had in hand.

As part of his press conference, he also commented on the refereeing in Spain, especially in light of the penalty Celta Vigo were denied against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey.
“I don’t usually talk but this is a football show. Let’s not forget that we are for all of Spain, that many people are watching us,” he said.
“We have had the most controversial play of this season,” he added on the atrocity suffered by his own team, referring to the injustice in the game against Mallorca.
Los Blancos must be wary against Las Palmas, especially given how they defeated Barcelona at Montjuic not too long ago in the same competition. Given the team’s unconvincing displays in recent weeks, anything is possible.
