Joan Laporta has officially confirmed his intention to run for re-election as president of FC Barcelona, declaring his desire to continue the ambitious project that he believes has rescued the club from collapse.
Speaking in an interview with RAC1(h/t Mundo Deportivo) following Barcelona’s emphatic La Liga title win, Laporta was emphatic: “We have saved the club and this project deserves to continue.”
Laporta described this latest La Liga triumph, Barcelona’s 28th league crown, as the most difficult of his entire tenure, stating it was achieved “against all odds and against everyone.”
His comments referred not only to the fierce competition on the pitch but also to the mountain of off-field difficulties the club has faced, from financial restrictions to institutional instability.
And yet, despite all of this, Barcelona emerged as undisputed champions, completing a domestic treble of La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.

When asked directly whether he plans to run in the next elections, scheduled for 2026, Laporta left no room for doubt: “Yes, of course. I see that we’ve achieved the results we wanted, and we are working very well. Think about where we came from and where we are.”
Laporta was equally full of praise for Hansi Flick, the German manager who has masterminded a sensational first season at the club.
In his debut campaign, Flick has already won three trophies and has established a formidable identity marked by high pressing, tactical discipline, and fearless youth development.
Laporta confirmed Flick’s continuity, stating, “We have already talked about it, Deco will finalise it, and we’ll soon announce Flick’s continuation. He wants to renew year after year.”
Flick’s success has not gone unnoticed. Laporta revealed that the coach is thoroughly enjoying his time at the club, saying,
Leading this group isn’t easy, but he’s happy and tells us he’s having one of the most beautiful seasons of his career. He’s disciplined, rigorous, and sensitive,” he said.
