Dani Ceballos has his mind set on a summer departure from Real Madrid having struggled to garner meaningful action on the pitch in the past two seasons.

Even though the 27-year-old signed a new contract last year, minutes continued to be hard to come by with a plethora of midfielders ahead of him in the pecking order.

Despite Toni Kroos’ retirement, it is unlikely that Ceballos’ situation will improve next season and as such he has decided to leave the club this summer.

The Spanish international’s former team, Real Betis, have once again emerged as a possible destination for him, after being linked in the past as well.

Real Betis not in a position to sign Ceballos

However, now, AS reports that Real Betis are in no position to sign Ceballos this summer as they cannot match Real Madrid’s demands for the midfielder nor afford to cover his wages.

As was reported earlier this week, while Los Blancos would consider letting Ceballos go, they would not give him away for cheap.

Instead, the reigning La Liga champions want a fee of at least €20 million for their midfielder, considering he still has three years on his contract.

And, as things stand, Real Betis might have problems meeting those demands while the Spaniard’s salary would also be an issue for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

Real Betis president has already hinted at it

In fact, only last month, Real Betis president Angel Haro insisted that a move for Dani Ceballos might be out of reach for the club this summer.

“The probability of him coming to Betis is remote. The circumstances do not exist for him to be able to arrive here,” Haro clarified in an interview.

As such, a move back to Betis might be unlikely for Ceballos, but he has no shortage of suitors.

After all, Atletico Madrid and Girona are also said to be interested, along with teams from Italy and England.
