The end of Kylian Mbappé’s (25) seven-year chapter at Paris Saint-Germain is drawing to a close. Ahead of his departure at the end of the season, the France captain has paid tribute to Les Parisiens, whilst also expressing his excitement at his upcoming move.

After months, even years of speculation, Mbappé’s PSG departure was finally made official earlier this month in a video posted on his social media channels. It came after he had informed the club, notably president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, of his decision not to renew his current contract, which expires at the end of the season.

Speaking to Quotidien, Mbappé reflected on his time at PSG and thanked the French club for the key role it played in making him the player he is today. “Paris – that represents a lot of things. The fact of having played at such a big club, the love of the fans, a demanding fanbase but one that only wants to love you and then there are the titles. I have won quite a few at Paris! My career took another trajectory at PSG. I owe that to PSG,”  said Les Parisiens’ all-time top scorer, before previewing his upcoming move.

‘PSG will continue to be big’ – Mbappé

“I am going to lose lots of things [by leaving France] but gain lots of other things. I am looking forward. I am super excited. What awaits me will be magical,” added Mbappé.

The PSG forward concluded by reassuring that his departure won’t harm the grandeur or the attractiveness of Ligue 1 champions: “PSG will continue to be big. If I was attracted, others will be too. Big players want to play at special clubs and PSG is a special club.”
