Jurgen Klopp has said his only focus is on beating Fulham this weekend with the Premier League title race not in Liverpool’s hands.

Liverpool lost ground in the race for the title after a 1-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend. It was a second successive fixture with dropped points for the Reds who now sit third, behind Arsenal on goal difference and two points adrift of leaders Manchester City.

Klopp’s side have won just one of their last four in all competitions and exited the Europa League after a 3-1 aggregate defeat to Atalanta on Thursday night.

The German said he is not looking ahead to the Premier League run-in and said Liverpool’s focus must be on getting ‘back to winning games again’, starting at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

“That is not in our hands. It is not about that,” Klopp said at his pre-match press conference on the title race.

“Can City win every game they have left? Yeah, that has happened quite frequently but they have a lot of games and difficult opponents as well.

“We don’t think about them. It’s just can we get back to winning games again?

“We had a lot of chances and missed but it’s better than not having chances at all. I am absolutely convinced we can get back to winning ways.”

Asked how his side will deal with recent setbacks, Klopp said: “There are moments when we should have won that we didn’t, and we should have done that.

“It is never about how many points you get, it’s about how you deal with them. That’s not the big problem.

“We will find a way to be positive, to see the chance in front of us and then we have to play an opponent. That’s the challenge in football – we can prepare for ourselves but there is always an opponent as well.

“We made it a bit too easy now for three teams in a row and we want to change that.”
