Celtic’s Great Dane admitted that’s just what Champions do. With that result at Tannadice this weekend, the Hoops have made it 13 titles in 14 years during what Brendan Rodgers described as a “golden era” earlier in the week.

Currently working his way back from injury, Schmeichel has been another vastly experienced professional who has helped fill a massive void in the side when Joe Hart departed, creating a seamless transition between the old and the new. The 38-year-old is still living the dream and loving life as a footballer in his winger years as a player it must be said, but has showed no signs of slowing down anytime soon with some fantastic performances this year between the sticks.

A main reason for our better form in European football this season and resultant entry to the UEFA Champions League knockout rounds for the first time in 12 years, Kapser has highlighted for everyone once again the necessity for a solid goalkeeper if you want to be successful. Those incredible displays this campaign and his dovetailing with Callum McGregor as a sort of vice-captain has been invaluable for Brendan and Celtic at home and abroad.

With a domestic clean sweep a strong possibility now that the title has been finalised against Jim Goodwin’s side today, Kasper insisted that’s just what the big Bhoys do. “To play the well we have today, that’s what champions do,” he asserted on the Tanndice pitch post-match. “You can only beat what’s in front of you and that’s what we’ve done all season. That relentless nature is what we’re all about. We can’t have off days, they don’t exist for us. It’s a constant strive and drive to be better. Any league-winning team has to have that internal drive to have high standards.”

The Danish international will now be hoping he can make a recovery in time for the Scottish Cup Final next month against Jimmy Thelin’s Aberdeen side on 4 May. He was out on the pitch before the game with Stevie Woods participating in the pre-match warm-up, but is hopeful he can play and be involved again this season at some point.

When asked if we would see him back for that special occasion, he replied: “I hope so, I hope so. I’ve got to wait for the fracture to heal now. But we’re a long way down the line. I was in the warm-up today in training. Kind of at 85-90%. So the last few steps now and hopefully, be back soon.”
