Juventus Target Lens Star After Another Injury Blow

Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli stated they were set on Wednesday, but the standpoint didn’t last long, as the Bianconeri were forced to dive back into the transfer market since they lost Pierre Kalulu for a while and reignited the talks to onboard Danso from Lens, Gianluca Di Marzio informs.

He was one of their first January targets but they weren’t able to shake hands with Lens and eventually signed Renato Veiga on loan from Chelsea. The situation has changed, though. The Frenchman will sit out at least three weeks due to a thigh strain.

Juventus were at a good point with Lens for Danso, but there are other offers for him on the table. Rennes tendered €24M to sign him outright, while the Old Lady would only bring him in on a temporary spell. They initially proposed €2.5M and €1.5M add-ons.

The defender prefers transferring to Turin and is putting pressure on the brass to accept the offer. The Bianconeri have then inserted a €25M option to buy. He has appeared 14 times this campaign and has been a full-time starter up until a couple of weeks ago after missing about a month to recover from a procedure to address a heart condition that had made his Roma switch collapse last summer.

Our Take on Juventus and Danso

Another defender was already a necessity beforehand, but it’s a must after Kalulu went down. They’ll be razor-thin and have to trust an unproven pair in the back. They evidently need to penny-pinch, but all these loans aren’t a great look for the future and in terms of roster construction.
