Juventus have reignited their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi, according to reports circulating in the Italian and German press this week. As detailed by Sky Italia and Bild, Juventus have resumed talks about a potential move for the German international, having previously targeted Adeyemi during last summer’s transfer window.
Juventus’ interest comes as the club looks to inject youth and versatility into its attacking options. Club scouts have closely followed Adeyemi over the current season, a campaign in which he made 35 appearances across all competitions. The Dortmund attacker contributed 12 goals and 9 assists, figures that underscore his value as a multi-positional threat in the final third.
Despite this output, Adeyemi’s status at Dortmund remains a topic of debate. Some supporters argue his performances have lacked consistency, while others view him as crucial to Niko Kovač’s plans. The coach is expected to push to keep Adeyemi, whose contract at Dortmund runs until June 2027. The player himself has spoken about his comfort at the club, referencing his childhood support for Dortmund, but there are also suggestions from German outlets that he may be open to a new challenge.
Dortmund are reportedly holding out for a transfer fee in the €65 to €70 million range, a figure that reflects both Adeyemi’s age and potential. Juventus, on the other hand, are believed to be planning an offer closer to €45 to €50 million and may try to negotiate. Adeyemi currently earns just under €3 million per year at Dortmund and would expect a salary increase should he make the move to Italy.
For Juventus, securing Champions League football remains pivotal, both as a financial necessity and as a lure for players of Adeyemi’s profile. The club’s transfer strategy is also being shaped by the need to balance books, with player sales likely required before they can advance talks with Dortmund. Juventus’ interest in Adeyemi last summer included meetings with the player’s family during a pre-season tour in Munich, but the club ultimately shifted focus and signed Nicolas Gonzalez and Francisco Conceição.
Chelsea and Napoli have also been credited with interest in Adeyemi, introducing an additional layer of competition for Juventus in the transfer market. Meanwhile, the club is tracking other targets, with PSV Eindhoven’s Johan Bakayoko among the names under consideration.
Dortmund supporters are split on the prospect of a sale. Some believe a significant transfer fee for Adeyemi would be a wise move, while others see his continued presence as vital to the squad’s ambitions next season. Should he depart, Dortmund would have the resources to reinvest in their attacking line.
The outcome of this transfer saga hinges on several variables: Dortmund’s valuation, Juventus’ Champions League qualification, and Adeyemi’s own intentions. What is clear is that Juventus remain intent on making a statement signing, and Adeyemi continues to be a significant figure in their plans.
