Scorer: Weah 18′, Yildiz 84′
Juventus earned Derby della Mole bragging rights on Saturday after a 2-0 victory in front of home fans.
The attack was one-way traffic, with the Bianconeri registering 13 attempts to Torino’s five, but it took a lucky moment for the deadlock to break.
Andrea Cambiaso ran into traffic and created the breakaway before calling Vanja Milinković-Savić into a diving save. But the ball only went so far before a lurking Timothy Weah pounced at the back post.
Dusan Vlahović attempted to double the lead for the hosts, but his efforts didn’t bother the visiting defence or the goalkeeper, as things remained 1-0 by the break.
Without injured stars Che Adams and Duvan Zapata, Torino failed to get themselves back into the game and remained without a shot on target by the hour mark. The exit of Samuele Ricci and Ivan Ilic through injury didn’t help either.
Truthfully, a lack of finishing and no true intent from either side saw this derby fall flat in terms of entertainment.
The American briefly sent fans into a second roar when he rifled a second beyond Milinković-Savić after a brilliant ball from Teun Koopmeiners, but the effort was ruled out for offside.
The victory was then sealed thanks to some influence off the bench. Substitute Francisco Conceição sent a curling effort wide before teeing up Kenan Yildiz for a diving header.
As a result, Juventus sit third in the table with back-to-back Serie A wins, while Torino is 11th. It’s now 19 unbeaten for the Bianconeri in the derby.
