Arsenal’s U21 team finished their Premier League 2 season on a high note with a decisive 2-0 victory over Liverpool.

Mehmet Ali’s young Gunners secured a brilliant 2-0 victory over Liverpool U21s on Sunday afternoon, wrapping up their Premier League 2 campaign in style.

Arsenal thought they had a dream start when Amario Cozier-Duberry found the net, but his celebrations were short-lived as the goal was ruled offside. Undeterred, the Gunners continued to press forward, with Jurrien Timber and Ismeal Kabia causing problems down the left flank. Their slick combination play created a chance for Ethan Nwaneri, but his effort from outside the box couldn’t beat the Liverpool keeper.

Arsenal’s persistence finally paid off with a well-worked team goal. Kabia made a great run down the wing before finding Nathan Butler-Oyedeji. Butler-Oyedeji then played a clever ball across the goal for Cozier-Duberry, who tapped in to give Arsenal a deserved lead (26′).

Cozier-Duberry wasn’t done there. Just after the restart, he doubled Arsenal’s lead with a spectacular strike. Cutting inside from the left, he unleashed a magnificent curling effort that left the Liverpool goalkeeper with no chance (28′).

The win sees Arsenal finish the Premier League 2 regular season in fifth place on 36 points after 20 games. However, this position could change depending on the outcome of Reading’s match against Nottingham Forest on Monday.

By finishing in the top 16, Arsenal have qualified for the Premier League 2 play-offs. They secured a home advantage for their first play-off game, with the opponent to be determined after Reading’s match.

Jurrien Timber, recently back from an ACL injury, played 71 minutes for Arsenal after the 45 he got on Monday.
